Please see below project update for the Elbridge Gerry Elementary School:

  • Selective demolition of the Upper Bell exterior wall systems are in progress was completed the week of 4/6/20. 
  • Demolition and removal of the Upper Bell foundation systems are in progress and is scheduled to be completed the week of 4/13/20. 
  • Site contractor to moblize equipment the week of 4/13/20.
  • Ledge/Rock Profiling activity with the site enable and blasting contractor is scheduled to commence the week of 4/13/20.
  • Drilling rock areas to support the first "test" blast is to commence the week of 4/21/20.
  • Line drilling of weathered rock areas to commence the week of 4/21/20.
  • The first "test" ledge blasting activity is tentatively scheduled for Friday 4/24/20.  This date is tentative until the drilling activities commence to understand the density of the rock onsite.   
  • Project team will post weekly drilling & blasting look ahead schedules outlining both activities for that particular week.    

Revised Street Parking on Baldwin Road - Week of 4/13/20

Please see below the revised street parking plan on Baldwin Road for the Week of 4/13/20:

  • Due to the size of the equipment being delivered to the project to support sitework activities there will be No Parking on one side of Baldwin Road.  The side of the road with “even” number houses shall have No Parking for the time periods noted below.
  • The No Parking zone shall start at the intersection of Pleasant St (Rte 114) & Baldwin Rd and end at the intersection of Baldwin Rd & Jane Rd.  The equipment shall enter the project site through construction Gate B.
  • The No Parking periods shall be for the following:
    • Tuesday 4/14 – 8AM-3:30PM
    • Wednesday 4/15 – 8AM-3:30PM
    • Thursday 4/16 – 3AM-3:30PM
  • Due to the size and weight of the equipment scheduled to be delivered Thursday morning the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations requires the piece of equipment to be transported between the hours of 3AM-7AM.  The delivery truck will enter the site with the equipment and be turned off.  The offloading of the equipment will not occur until 7AM.
  • No Parking signs will be posted along Baldwin Road on Monday 4/13.
  • This revised parking plan and early morning equipment delivery has been communicated and coordinated with the Marblehead Police Department.

Project Update - April 6th, 2020

Please see below project update for the Elbridge Gerry Elementary School:

  • Abatement and removal of the Upper Bell roof was completed the week of 3/23/20.
  • Selective demolition of the Upper Bell exterior wall systems are in progress and will continue through the week of 4/6/20. 
  • Demolition and removal of the Upper Bell foundation systems are scheduled to commence the week of 4/6/20. 
  • Second & Third round of pre-blast inspection notices have been sent via certified mail the week of 3/30/20.  Notices have been sent to property owners within the state required circumferance and all direct abutters to the project site.
  • Pre-blast inspections commenced and were completed between 4/3-4/6/20 for the property owners that responded and scheduled accordingly with the inspection company.  
  • Ledge/Rock Profiling activity with the site enable and blasting contractor is scheduled to commence the week of 4/13/20.
  • Line drilling of weathered rock areas and to support the "test" blast is to commence the week of 4/13/20.
  • Project team is working towards scheduling the first "test" ledge blasting activity on or before 4/17/20.  This "test" blast is to confirm adherence to the blast design plan created by the blasting contractor and subsequently reviewed by the Local Fire Deparment Officials.
