Saturday Work - 12/5/20

The project will be working on the site this Saturday 12/12/20.  Activities will consist of the following:

  • General Trades contractor will be working on interior lay-out activities and framing activities on the second floor of the building.  The work crew will be utilizing man-lifts and power tools (drills and saws) to support the work activities through out the day. 
  • Masonry contractor will be washing down the brick veneer on the South-East corner of the building.  The work crew will be utilizing the hydro-lift/staging and washing equipment to support the work activities.  The project is utilizing the warmer temperatures scheduled for Saturday to perform this weather sensitive activity.   

The allowable work hours for Saturday is 8AM – 5PM.  

This Saturday work schedule has been communicated and coordinated with both the Marblehead Building Department & Police Department.

Project Update - Week of November 30th 2020

Please see below project update for the Marblehead Elementary School:

  • The site contractor will continue with the excavation and installation of the underground drainage system on the East side of the site, adjacent to Gate B of the project site.  Note this activity may require the use of a hammer drill at irregular intervals to break-up larger rocks/boulders and/or potential high spots of ledge that need to be taken down to support the drainage design. 
  • The site contractor will work on sub-grading activities on the West elevation of the site adjacent to Gate C/Dartmouth Road.  This is in preparation for placing asphalt binder before the plants close for the season.    
  • Building waterproofing activities shall continue on the West, East & North elevations of Areas B & C on the building. 
  • The masonry contractor will continue working on the West, South & East elevations of Area A of the building.   
  • Rough-in of overhead mechanical, electrical, fire protection and plumbing shall continue on the interior second level of Areas A & B.     
  • Interior metal framing shall continue on the interior second level of Area A.  
  • The mechanical contractor will continue lay-out on the first floor of Area A.
  • The metal window contractor is scheduled to receive two deliveries of the metal windows on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.  Additionally a delivery of storefront glass is scheduled to be delivered on Thursday of this week.  All materials will be offloaded and stored on the project site.

Please see below project update for the Marblehead Elementary School:

  • Light gauge metal framing & sheathing activites on the exterior of the building shall continue on the South elevation of Area C on the building.

  • The masonry contractor will continue working on the West, South & East elevations of Area A of the building.  This contractor will continue to receive the delivery of brick materials over the next three to four weeks; approx three deliveries of materials per week.  
  • Rough-in of overhead ductwork and piping shall continue on the interior second level of Areas A & B.     
  • Interior metal framing shall continue on the interior second level of Area A.  This contractor shall have a delivery of door frames for the first floor level on Monday 11/23.
  • The mechanical contractor will commence lay-out on the first floor of Area A this week.   
  • The project site will not be working on Thursday 11/26 in observation of the Thankgiving Holiday.  The project site will be working on Friday 11/27.

The project will be working on the site this Saturday 11/21/20.  Activities will consist of the following:

  • National Grid installing the gas line from Dartmouth Road to the exterior face of the new building.  This utility crew will utilizing their own earthwork equipment to complete this activity.
  • Waterproofing contractor will continue with the installation of the waterproofing membrane on the exterior of the building.  This crew will be utilizing man-lifts to support their work activities.  This is a weather sensitive activity and will be impacted the week of 11/23 based on the current weather forecast for that week.
  • General Trades contractor will be working on interior lay-out activities and framing activities on the second floor of the building.  The work crew will be utilizing man-lifts and power tools (drills and saws) to support the work activities through out the day.

Please see below project update for the Marblehead Elementary School:

  • The site contractor will continue with the excavation and installation of the underground drainage system on the East side of the site, adjacent to Gate B of the project site.  Note this activity may require the use of a hammer drill at irregular intervals to break-up larger rocks/boulders and/or potential high spots of ledge that need to be taken down to support the drainage design.  
  • Light gauge metal framing & sheathing activites on the exterior of the building shall continue on the East, North & South elevations of Areas B & C on the building.  The project will continue to receive deliveries of framing & sheathing materials to support this activity.
  • Complete the installation of the roofing insulation and membrane materials on the main Roof Level of Area C of the roof.  This contractor shall have a crane onsite this week for debri removal from the roof level to the dumpsters.
  • Delivery of the roof hatches and smaller skylights scheduled for the Gymnasium roof are scheduled to be delivered to the project site on Tuesday 11/17/20.
  • Building waterproofing activities shall continue on the West, South & East elevations of Area A working North along these elevations. 
  • The masonry contractor will continue working on the West, South & East elevations of Area A of the building.  The erection of staging will continue this week to support the installation of brick veneer.  This contractor will continue to receive the delivery of brick materials over the next three to four weeks; approx three deliveries of materials per week.  
  • Lay-out & installation pipe supports and hangers for mechanical rough-in shall continue on the interior second level of Areas A & B.
  • Rough-in of overhead ductwork and piping has commenced and will continue on the interior second level of Areas A & B.     
  • Interior metal framing has commenced on the interior second level of Area A to support the in-place classroom mock-up.  This contractor shall have a delivery of door frames and metal studs for the second level this week.   
  • UPDATE The temporary lighting within the new building has been installed and will be fully energized by Tuesday 11/17 to support a safe working enviroment for future activities & trade contractors.  Note it is a State mandate that the temporary lighting remains energized at all times; including nights and weekends.
