Saturday Work - 10/10/20

The project will be working on the site this Saturday 10/10/20.  Activities will consist of exterior metal framing & blocking of the exterior walls of the building.  The work crew will be utilizing man-lifts and power tools (drills and saws) to support the work activities through out the day.

The allowable work hours for Saturday is 8AM – 5PM.  The work crew is scheduled to work until 4PM this particular day.

This Saturday work schedule has been communicated and coordinated with both the Marblehead Building Department & Police Department.

Potential Extended Work Hours - Tuesday 10/13 OR Wednesday 10/14

The project has a concrete slab on grade placement scheduled for Tuesday 10/13 and Wednesday 10/14; there may be weather on Tuesday that would require the placement to occur on Wednesday .  The project has coordinated and reduced these placements sizes with the concrete contractor to help decrease the duration of these work activities.  It is very typical in the industry that concrete slab on deck and concrete on grade placements require extended work hours to properly complete the work activity. 

Below is the tentative schedule for the concrete placement.  Note the below periods of time are tentative and subject to change based on concrete service, weather and other potential unforeseen issues.

 

6:30AM – Concrete Pump Truck Mobilizes Onsite

 

7:00AM – 12:30PM – Place & Pump Concrete to Slab on Grade Locations

  • Approximately (25-30) Concrete Trucks will be accessing the project site to support this concrete placement

 

12:30PM – 4:00PM – Commence Concrete Finishing Activities.

  • Gas powered finishing equipment will be utilized during this period.

 

4:00PM – 5:00PM – Third Party Quality Control – Flatness Testing


5:00PM – 6:00PM – Saw Cut Control Joints in Slab on Grade

  • Gas powered saw equipment will be utilized during this period.
  • Temporary light towers may be required to safely light the work area during this time period

 

6:00PM - 7:00PM - Cover the Concrete Slab with Curing Paper

  • Temporary light towers may be required to safely light the work area during this time period

 

7:00PM – 9:00PM – Contingency Period for Potential Delays - Concrete Service, Weather Effecting Cure Times, Etc.

 

This work schedule has been communicated and coordinated with both the Marblehead Building Department & Police Department.

Project Update - Week of October 5th 2020

Please see below project update for the Marblehead Elementary School:

  • Continue with backfill activites of the building retaining wall on the North end of the project site. 
  • Continue with underground utilities on the West side of the site working North towards Gate C located at Dartmouth Road. 
  • The backfill activity for underground utilities within the building footprint shall continue in Areas A & B of the building.
  • Excavation & sub-grade for underground utilities shall commence this week in Area C of the building.  
  • Light gauge metal framing activites on the exterior of the building shall continue on the South & West elevations of Area A on the building.  The project will receive deliveries of framing materials to support this activity. 
  • The installation of roof blocking for mechanical units on the Roof Level shall continue in Areas B & C of the building. 
  • Light gauge metal framing activities on the Roof Level shall continue in Areas B & C of the building.  
  • The installation of the roofing deck and waterproofing materials shall commence on the Roof Level of Area A working North towards Area B.
  • The site contractor shall continue site and grading work on the West elevation of the project site adjacent to the Tower School residential properties. 
  • Due to the recognized Holiday on Monday 10/12/20 there will not be any work scheduled on the project site.
  • In the coming weeks temporary lighting within the new building shall be installed and energized to support a safe working enviroment for future activities & trade contractors.  Note it is a State mandate that the temporary lighting remains energized at all times; including nights and weekends.      

Project Update - Week of September 28th 2020

Please see below project update for the Marblehead Elementary School:

  • Due to service availability the paving activity of the new parking lot area is scheduled to be completed on Monday 9/28.  
  • Continue with backfill activites of the building retaining wall on the North end of the project site. 
  • Continue with underground utilities on the West side of the site working North towards Gate C located at Dartmouth Road. 
  • The backfill activity for underground utilities within the building footprint shall continue in Areas A & B of the building.
  • Layout for underground utilities shall commence this week in Area C of the building.  Excavation and sub-grade preparation in this Area to follow the lay-out completion.  
  • Light gauge metal framing activites on the exterior of the building shall commence on the South & West elevations of Area A on the building.  The project will receive deliveries of framing materials to support this activity. 
  • The installation of roof blocking for mechanical units on the Roof Level shall continue in Areas A, B & C of the building. 
  • Light gauge metal framing activities on the Roof Level shall continue in Areas A/B of the building.  
  • The installation of roof drain bodies on the Roof Level has commenced and shall continue in Areas A, B & C of the building.
  • The project is tentatively scheduled to have a crane onsite Friday to load a portion of roofing materials to the Roof Level of Area A/B.
  • The site contractor shall commence site and grading work on the West elevation of the project site adjacent to the Tower School residential properties. 
  • In the coming weeks temporary lighting within the new building shall be installed and energized to support a safe working enviroment for future activities & trade contractors.  Note it is a State mandate that the temporary lighting remains energized at all times; including nights and weekends.

Please see below project update for the Marblehead Elementary School:

  • Continue with site prep, fills and grading on the South end of the project site to support the construction of the new parking lot area.  The use of vibratory compaction equipment will be used throughout this work activity.
  • Commence on Wednesday 9/23 with fine grading activities on the South end of the project site to support the placement of the asphalt binder in the new parking lot area.  The asphalt binder is currently scheduled to be placed on Thursday 9/24 & Friday 9/25 weather permitting. 
  • Continue with backfill activites of the building retaining wall on the North end of the project site. 
  • Continue with underground utilities on the West side of the site working North towards Gate C located at Dartmouth Road. 
  • The excavation & backfill activity for underground utilities within the building footprint shall continue in Area A & B of the building. 
  • The perimeter roof blocking on the Roof Level shall continue in Areas A/B of the building.  The project will receive deliveries of lumber materials to support this activity.
  • Light gauge metal framing activities on the Roof Level shall commence in Areas A/B of the building.  The project will receive deliveries of framing materials to support this activity.
  • The project is tentatively scheduled to have a crane onsite Friday to load a portion of roofing materials to the Roof Level of Area A/B.
