Water Service Shutdown on Baldwin Road - June 4, 2020

On Thursday June 4, 2020 there will be a water shutdown to allow the connection of the projects new water line and valves in Baldwin Road adjacent to Gate D.  The water shutdown will be between the hours of 9AM-5PM on Thursday.  The project team will be working to complete this work expeditiously to allow the water service to be reactivated as soon as possible.  To help limit the shutdown period the project will be excavating in Baldwin Road on Wednesday June 3, 2020 to unearth the existing line and make safe the trench overnight with road plates to support the installation on Thursday morning.

This work has been scheduled and coordinated with the Marblehead Water & Sewer Department.  A formal notice from the Water & Sewer Department reiterating this shutdown information will be provided to the affected properties.  

 

The following properties will be affected and not have water service during this time period:

  • 33 Baldwin Road
  • 37 Baldwin Road
  • 39 Baldwin Road
  • 41 Baldwin Road
  • 43 Baldwin Road

 

The following properties may be affected if the existing gate valve scheduled to be closed on Thursday does not function and a valve further down Baldwin Road needs to be utilized:

Please note the blasting signals have been posted on the project site fence at Gates A, B & C.  The signals required to be used are as follows:

  1. WARNING SIGNAL:           Three long whistles five minutes prior to blast signal.
  2. BLAST SIGNAL:                  Two whistles one minute prior to the shot/blast.

                                                                            BLAST OCCURS

  1. ALL CLEAR SIGNAL:          A prolonged whistle following the inspection of the blast area.

Project Update - May 26th, 2020

Please see below project update for the Elbridge Gerry Elementary School:

  • Continue hauling the existing loam materials offsite.
  • Continue stripping and hauling of existing asphalt materials offsite. 
  • Continue with site prep and fills using onsite material at the South & West areas of the project site.    
  • Commence ledge crushing activities on the North end of the project site, adjacent to the wooded area.     
  • Site contractor will continue to support, stock pile and hauling of blasted and excavated rock onsite/offsite. 
  • Connection to the existing water main in Baldwin Road to be scheduled the week of 6/1/20.  This work will be scheduled with Marblehead Water & Sewer Department this week for proper & timely notification to the affected property owners as water availability will be affected for the day of the connection.

Early Morning Equipment Delivery - May 22, 2020

On Friday morning May 22, 2020 there will be a delivery of equipment between the hours of 5AM-6AM.  The delivery trucks with the equipment will enter the project site through Gate C located on Dartmouth Road and will be turned off.  The offloading of the equipment will not occur until 7AM. 

Due to the size and weight of the equipment scheduled to be delivered Friday morning the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations requires the pieces of equipment to be transported between the hours of 3AM-7AM.  

This early morning equipment delivery has been communicated and coordinated with the Marblehead Police Department.
