Please see below the ledge drilling and blasting schedule for the week of 5/18/20.

Monday 5/18/20:

  • Drilling activities to continue.
  • Two Blast Events Scheduled:
    • First Blast to occur between 10AM-12PM**
    • Second Blast to occur between 12PM-3PM**

 

Tuesday 5/19/20:

  • Drilling activities to continue.

 

Wednesday 5/20/20:

  • Drilling activities to continue.
  • Two Blast Events Scheduled:
    • First Blast to occur between 10AM-12PM**
    • Second Blast to occur between 12PM-3PM**

 

Thursday 5/21/20:

  • Drilling activities to continue.
  • Two Blast Events Scheduled:
    • First Blast to occur between 10AM-12PM**
    • Second Blast to occur between 12PM-3PM**

  • Drilling activities to continue.

 

On all scheduled blast days a representative from the Marblehead Fire Department will be onsite for the blast event(s).

 

Please note the blasting signals have been posted on the project site fence at Gates A, B & C.  The signals required to be used are as follows:

  1. WARNING SIGNAL:           Three long whistles five minutes prior to blast signal.
  2. BLAST SIGNAL:                  Two whistles one minute prior to the shot/blast.

                                                                            BLAST OCCURS

  1. ALL CLEAR SIGNAL:          A prolonged whistle following the inspection of the blast area.   

 

**PLEASE NOTE THIS SCHEDULE IS TENTATIVE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE DUE TO THE LEDGE/ROCK CHARACTERISTICS, DENSITY AND WEATHER CONDITIONS.

Project Update - May 11, 2020

Please see below project update for the Elbridge Gerry Elementary School:

  • Continue stripping and stockpiling existing loam materials onsite.  Scheduling process to haul the loam materials offsite is currently in progress. 
  • Continue installation of new underground water line.  Work to progress from Baldwin Road towards Dartmouth Road.  Connections to the existing water line(s) to happen at a later date and will be scheduled and coordinated with Marblehead Water & Sewer Department. 
  • Continue installation of new underground drainage lines and structures (catch basins and drainage manholes) on the South end of the project site.
  • Complete selective site grubbing and clean-up on the North end of the project site, adjacent to the Tower School property and wooded area.
  • Continue cut of existing soils on the North end of the project site, adjacent to the Tower School property and wooded area.   
  • Site contractor will continue to support, stock pile and hauling of blasted and excavated rock onsite/offsite.
